Joyful Balance
Living Joyfully, Dying Peacefully

Yoga and Meditations to Balance Body, Mind and Soul
About us

Joyful Balance consists of a small team of facilitators with, combined together, over fifty years of
experience in Asia, Africa and South America. The facilitators have worked as part of international
and national teams, and with international and national governmental and non-governmental
partners.

In addition to professional qualifications and experience, the facilitators have extensive meditation
and yoga experience, and are certified
Kundalini Yoga teachers.

They are involved in grass-roots and institutional development activities, and have facilitated
implementation and planning and evaluation processes at all levels. Strengthening of human
resources is an important part of the work.

As part of their professional careers, the facilitators have dealt with (in)justice, (in)equity, and
(un)sustainability in poverty alleviation, building good governance and civil society, and the
management of natural resources. In many places they have been confronted with the challenges
of civil conflict, oppression and corruption, severe poverty, HIV/AIDS, etc., and with the
devastating impact these situations have on societies, as well as the trauma these leave behind
with people, groups and individuals, for many generations.

Over time the Joyful Balance team has become convinced that development will not result in
better livelihoods for many people when mainly driven by liberal, globalised, free-market focused
economic growth. What is needed in many countries is open-minded and holistic education that
can make a difference in the behavioural, moral and spiritual situation in a country. Only in case
there is a change towards compassion, modesty, and humility will all beings have a fair chance to
be part of the wealth and the opportunities of today's world.

Joyful Balance is an effort to contribute to that change.
Acknowledgement

Working on this site, the team is grateful to the teachers that have guided, and still guide them
through this life. They like to specifically mention Sunder Singh Khalsa who introduced them to
Kundalini Yoga and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, and whose teaching made the critical difference
in enabling them to bring the many pieces of learning together in a Joyful Balance.
