| Joyful Balance - the approach There are many ways to deal with trauma and stress, including lifestyle changes, psychological counselling, medication, psychiatric treatment, etc. Yoga and meditation have proven to be able to have a healing impact in many cases as well, and to effectively support other (para-)medical treatments as well. Yoga and meditation focus at releasing and processing subconscious emotions such as fear, anger, and sorrow stored in the course of a person’s life. They can heal the impact of emotional shock and the causes of trauma. The techniques also strengthen the nervous and glandular systems, often weakened by tension and pressures, causing stress and depression. Through exercise the muscular system is toned, and the blood circulation is stimulated. Balancing the individual physical, mental and spiritual states through yoga and meditation will create good health, happiness and joy, and enables individuals to link inner and outer infinite energies. As a result, people (re-)gain confidence in themselves, and they are better able to handle pressures. People are (again) able to interact and communicate in a self-ensured manner, and to explore opportunities for a satisfactory life. People also become more sensitive and intuitive, and more open and able to see themselves within the larger social context, part of a larger universal framework of phenomena, guided by values for compassionate and concerned living and acting. |
